EHTP at Scholars Academy 1 is an afterschool program exclusively for students in grades 6-8. The program operates from 3:40 PM to 5:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with extended hours on Wednesdays from 1:40 PM to 5:30 PM. Students can participate in an array of programming including Dance, Culinary Arts, Fine Arts, Social Justice, and more. The program also offers Saturday and Holiday Camps to provide continuous support throughout the year.

The East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP) has been serving the East Harlem community since 1958, making it one of the neighborhood’s oldest and most trusted youth development organizations. For over 65 years, EHTP has been committed to providing academic support, enrichment opportunities, and pathways to success for young people in East Harlem.

Mission: EHTP’s mission is to help East Harlem youth reach their full potential through academic support, cultural enrichment, and character development. The organization believes that all young people deserve access to high-quality educational experiences that prepare them for college, career, and life.

History & Impact: Founded in 1958 by a group of concerned community members, EHTP began as a volunteer tutoring program in a church basement. Over the decades, the organization has grown to serve thousands of students annually through multiple programs across East Harlem.
