New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) was founded in 1971 by tennis legend Arthur Ashe, who believed that tennis could be used to gain and hold the attention of young people so they could be taught about matters more important than tennis. Today, NYJTL is the nation’s largest grassroots youth tennis and education nonprofit, serving 85,000+ children annually.

NYJTL operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the Bronx—a world-class 20-court facility—plus dozens of free and low-cost tennis programs across all five boroughs. Their proven model combines tennis instruction with academic support, character development, and college/career readiness programming.
