FREE Youth Council program ages 5-18 in Staten Island created by DYCD, Young Men's Initiative, and E4EA-IWG to amplify Youth-Voice and Youth-Choice, connecting and mobilizing youth councils across NYC.

Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) in collaboration with the Young Men’s Initiative (YMI) and ENTERTAINERS FOR EDUCATION ALLIANCE, INC - I WILL GRADUATE (E4EA-IWG) created a platform for young people throughout NYC that amplifies Youth-Voice and Youth-Choice. This council is the galvanizing body that connects and mobilizes youth councils across the city. My Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper Youth Council (MBSKYC) provides after-school youth development services.

MBSKYC participants engage in:

My Brother’s and Sister’s Keeper Youth Council was created through partnership between:

  • DYCD (Department of Youth and Community Development): NYC’s lead agency for youth services
  • Young Men’s Initiative (YMI): Mayor’s initiative addressing opportunity gaps for young men of color
  • E4EA-IWG (Entertainers For Education Alliance - I Will Graduate): Organization using entertainment and arts to promote graduation

Together, these partners created a citywide platform ensuring young people have voice, choice, and power in decisions affecting their lives and communities.

  1. Contact Staten Island JCC Visit 100 Luten Avenue or call for information about MBSKYC programming.

  2. Learn About Youth Council Attend orientation to understand youth voice, youth choice, and citywide connection opportunities.

  3. Complete Registration Fill out enrollment forms and indicate interest areas for advocacy and leadership.

  4. Submit Documents Provide required documentation including proof of age and emergency contacts.

  5. Begin Participation Start attending youth council meetings, training sessions, and advocacy activities!
